Default whats it worth?

2006 loaded with lt3,glass roof, chrome wheels and orange paint. The car has 18000 miles and is flawless. He was going to trade it in for 27000.So that"s what i offered him but he said he wants more.So i"m trying to get an idea what it"s worth.I don"t want to pay to much because for a little more i could get an 08 or 09.Than again the c7 is coming and i know the prices will come down than even more and i"m not in a big rush.Just want to make a smart decision.Thxs

$32 retail

I'd go $29k..he is not a retail seller and can't expect a retail price.

If ANYONE here quotes you a lower price for an EQUAL 3LT car..ask them to direct you to the REAL car and not the fanatasy machine in their mind they are quoting.

a loaded '06 for $29K....tell me this: what do '05s go for?

trading for $27K means very little because one doesn't know what a bath he was going to take on the new(er) car. think of it as a water balloon: push one end and it gets smaller...(pay more for new car, get less for old car. pay less for new car, get more for old car)

if I were you, I'd keep looking.

Does your state allow a tax deduction for the trade in? If so then his trade is really worth what ever the tax rate rate is over the 27K. This is usually only available through a dealer and not a private party. If not, then anything he gets from you over what the seller wants to offer him is gravy.

If you liked the car enough to match the bid, then another thousand should appeal to him if he is serious about trading up in the first place.

The highest I'd go is $27,500 if you really like it. But imo you can find a better deal. I wouldn't pay more than $26K for it personally. Good luck.

Some people will chime in with some unrealistic low ball offer. Ask them to find you a car like that. If its clean and everything checks out I wouldn't worry about a extra thousand dollars one way or the other. Good luck and happy Vette hunting.

As was pointed out by C1vettes, there may be a tax advantage to the seller for trading the car in. Your offer would put the seller in the hole. In the state of Texas, this deal would save the seller about $1600 in taxes to trade in. If your state is similar, you would need to offer around $2k more than the trade in offer to make the deal attractive to the seller.

Just my 2 cents.

29k seems fair, i paid 32 for my 08 w/20k miles and had to pay 1k to ship here. I have looked for many years DAILY and 28.5-29k is what i would say its worth, no more really though unless its exactly what YOU are looking for. good luck!

On a trade in Arizona you receive a reduction in the sales tax equivilent value of the trade - - so at an 8.5% tax rate, a $27k trade-in benefits the purchase by about $2300 . .

That said, trade ins are oftentimes leveraged against an artificially high sales price from the dealer plus all the other fees, additions, etc that many of them seem inclined to add. So the value of the trade is actually just over $29k given the tax impact - - but it may be worth it to him to avoid the dealer hassle and feel assurred that his prized Corvette will go to another proud and careful owner.

Good luck - -

that tax trick does not work in California. I asked my dealer. He said, can't do that...

Correct. Trade in is like cash...comes into the deal after purchase price, sales tax, reg fees...total purchase price then the trade just becomes part of the downpayment (presuming equity).

Ok here"s the deal.Talk to the guy i work with today about the car.I screwed up sat started to talk to him and said there are 4843 used corvettes for sale on auto trader.Well to say the least i would have been better off asking to sleep with his daughter .So i had to give up that day because he was pissed because his vette is the only 1 in the world to him.So asked today if he still wanted to deal.He said he found a deal at another dealer for a car.Which sucks because he cant get the sales tax break %6 if he sells it to me.He said he would take 29500 i told him i was thinking 28500.So we should meet in the middle at 29000.Now that its getting serious i went and did a walk around on the car.The front tires need to be replaced but the backs look ok some tread left and 1 of the chrome wheels are hashed about an inch and a half on the edge.I think with only 18000 miles they are originals.Other than that the car is flawless not a chip or scratch anyware. So now i"m still wondering if it"s still a deal?

Don't rush into anything... Stick to your guns.. U can get a set of oem tired for like 500-600 on eBay almost new.. And for tires front are only 18 so they won't cost you much .. But don't let this foggie try to hose you. Like you said there's lots of vettes out there for sale

I guess if you really like the color and options I would say yes. Front tires in bad shape at those miles is not uncommon. I am sure some will say keep looking, but if the only thing is front tires I wouldn't waste my time. Is it worth your time chasing after other used cars that may or may not come along for a few hundred dollars?
