locking vs non locking converters

Default locking vs non locking converters

The person I purchased my car from said I had a PTC 3000rpm non lock up converter. How is the non locking converter better then a locking or is there any diffrence?

Most stock converters are set to lockup around 43-45 MPH, to eliminate the slippage, to improve gas mileage. There is normally 200-300 RPM slippage in a stock converter. In addition, a locking converter does not heat up the transmission fluid as much as a non locking converter.

Sorry I spoke wrong I have a lock up converter not a non lock up. I think I need someone who really knows how to tune the computer and the transmssion to get it all dailed in correct.
