My battery is now 5 years old and was going to replace it with an optima
Thanks
Since you apparently got 5 years good service from the OEM Delco battery, why do you want to spend extra for an Optima? Might be good peace-of-mind. Or it might be an unnecessary extra expense.
Anyway, Optima Yellow Top is better for "rechargeability" and deep-discharge applications. Does your car sit for weeks without a battery tender?
Since you are switching out, might be worth spending a couple of extra bucks and get that protective mat that sits underneath the battery.
My Optima leaked a little bit and in a C5, the computer sits underneath the battery and I've heard of people having major problems when an unchecked leak deposited stuff on the 'puter.
