On Friday I had an MGW shifter and K&N cold air installed on my 2005 vert. I am a fairly skeptically person, so I was pleasantly surprised that both made such an improvement. The shifts are so much better and precise. I drove the car all day Saturday on country roads and found shifting from 2nd to 3rd perfect everytime. I had some difficulty with 5th due to the very slight distance from 3rd. The odd time at low rpm 1st went to 4th even with skip shift disabled. Sometimes 2nd went to 3rd instead of first when down shifting.
The car seemed much more alive with the K&N - particularily 2500- 4000 rpm. I did not expect to notice any difference.
The shop were the work was done also tunes Vettes. They showed me the various dyno runs for a stock 2006 going from 345 rear wheel horsepower to 377 with only a K&N cold air. Could this really be true? What are the down sides of a tune? (I am off warranty)

I would be a little reluctant to believe the numbers that the shop is telling you. A 32 rwhp gain with just a tune is quite a bit and the K&N will not be the factor for much of a gain.
