OK, how come after a few minutes my car doors lock even with the FOB in the car? Is there a setting I need to change? I though the doors would not lock as long as the FOB was in range, espically if the FOB was in the car?

The doors locking with the FOB inside the car is a safety issue otherwise driving through the hood they would jack your ride at a signal light.
If you're talking about the doors locking when a fob is left in the car and the engine is not running, it's only supposed to do that if at least one fob has been removed from the car.
If you have a reason to leave a fob in the car, reprogram it so the car does not automatically lock.
The car is desined to look for the primary fob in the car. The primary fob will be the only fob or if there is more than one, the fob with the lowest number. If the primary fob has left the vehicle and the secondary fob remains in the car and the autolock is set to on, the doors will lock. If the only fob it detects remains in the car it will not lock the doors.
The car does not look for the fob if a door has not opened since the time it was closed and the fob was detected meaning it will still lock the doors once you get in and the vehicle is started.
Much more important than any of that above. The car will only search for a fob in the drivers compartment. It will NOT find nor will it look for a fob in the rear hatch area. If you are trying to toss your fob in the back in a briefcase or golf bag, it will lock the doors. It is simply not designed to look there for the presence of a fob. Think of this like your conventional car. If you put your keys in the trunk and close it, it will be locked. The Corvette looks only in front of the front seats.
You can also turn on "Fob Reminder" using the DIC and then the horn will chirp 3 times if you close the door with the ignition off and the fob still inside the car.

Much better option than turning off one of the best features of the car.
