Does the rubber gasket protect the fender from being scratched Thanks

It's supposed to be protection between the guard and the fender and also hides any gaps that there might be.

I have it on mine for 2 years now and no problems. Just fit it snug before you install it. A 2nd pair of hands might help there.

A few folks have posted that the gasket didn't prevent marring of the paint. I do have the gasket on my splash guards, but as an extra precaution made a template of where the gasket/trim edge would contact the fender, and cut some clear film (3M Scotchcal) to install underneath the gasket/trim edge. I think that I went about 3/8" or so beyond the trim edge.
