Default 2011 GS Bluetooth and IPhone

Trying to answer my IPhone, which is paired with the Bluetooth in the car. Pushed the answer button on the steering wheel and it doesn't put the call over the Bluetooth. I have to answer the phone manually. There is a screen with options including answering using the car's Bluetooth system, but it doesn't seem to connect right away.
Anyone know how this works?

push and hold the answer button on the steering wheel until it picks up. You can't just hit it once.

Also, for outgoing calls, be sure to use the voice passthrough feature with your iPhone, as it's way easier than manually storing name tags through the car's Bluetooth system. Hold the call button down for 2 secs, say "Bluetooth" then say "voice." After a few seconds, you'll hear your iPhone's voice prompt and can tell it to call any number in your contacts list (e.g. "Call John Smith mobile/home/work").
