Sorry for the long post.
I have been using the blown smart fuse method for bypassing the CAGS and not getting the check engine light. This has worked fine for the past two years. I recently brought the car into the dealer to service the active handling since the sensor in the steering column needed to be replaced. As soon as I got the car back from the dealer and put about 50 miles on the car the check engine light came on. I had Onstar due a diagnostic and they said it was the CAGS that was causing the check engine light. I replaced the smart fuse with a regular 10 amp fuse and after about 50 miles and a shut down and restart the check engine light went off. I put in a new blown smart fuse checked that it was glowing, the cags was bypassed and in about 10 miles the check engine kight came on. Could the dealer have done some sort of computer reflash which now renders the blown smart fuse method worhless.
Funny that you brought this up today, I have been using a blown smart fuse for 2+ years with no issue, yesterday my check engine light came on. I disconnected the battery and hooked it back up after putting the 10 amp fuse back in, the engine light wouldn't go off, called onstar and they couldn't find any codes, turned the car off again and re-started it again and the light was off. I guess it was the smart fuse but I don't know. BTW, my car hasnt seen the dealer since I drove it off the lot.

Thanks in advance
That’s possible. Many times the dealers mechanics will review the cars history and do called for upgrades to the computers .They get paid for every procedure they do so it’s easy money. Many an expensive custom tune has been done away with in this manner. You bring your car in for an oil change and your computer gets reflashed without them even telling you.
This happened to many friends that had C5s so I would think it’s possible with a C6!
I didn't disable CAGS instead learned the system and how to work within the parameters. At first it was a pain, now sometimes it is an asset. If you drive hard you'll never even know it is there.

On my 97 SS Camero & 98 (C5) it was a real PITA and I put an eliminator on those cars.
The engineers must have learned a few things as my 05 did not need that device. Just driving what is normal (as stated hard above) CAGS never kicked in. Same with my present 07 Z06, the CAGS never kicks on.
