Default Interesting

So I was on the Chevrolet site checking to see if they had updated it yet to include info on the 2012's. Checking the specs between the different models of Vette's I noticed that GM has the base coupe listed at 3208 lbs and the Z06 at 3175 lbs. So the base is only 33lbs heavier than the Z06 ??? I thought there was a bigger weight difference than that.

Disclaimer: I'm not bashing the Z06 as I own one.

one would think that certain things (ie suspension and motor) were heavier, so things were changed to lighten it up??

it's that gigantic motor you have vs. the little whimpy Ls3... us base coupes have no weight cause of lack of frills...........

Actually you may be on to some thing. With all the new additions to the Z06 maybe it has gotten a little more portly.

Edit: Motortrend has the original Z06 weight listed at 3132lbs.

I found the GS vert is 28lb less than the Z06. This was 6 or 8 months ago when I checked.

Your right, those great big pistons in the Z06 are much heavier than the wimpy little pistons in the base coupe.

Oh ya, and those massive big beefy man-sized stabilizer bars on the Z06 weigh a ton compared to those pencil sized stabilizer bars on the base coupe!

How does that compare to the weight listed on the title? My title lists my GS at 3233lbs.

Foremaw,

You are correct. The 2011 ZO6 comes in at 3175lbs. The GS Vert is at 3289Lbs. And the 2009 ZR1 at 3350lbs . . . there is that BIG engine.

What I recalled is that the GS vert is 22lbs less that the GS Coupe (not the ZO6).
