I want to attach a bracket to the frame of the roof just above the rear view mirror. Not the window frame the roof frame. I tried the 3M double sided molding tape but the application is in tension and with the heat it just dropped off. Does anyone have a recomendation? I was thinking of using the yellow molding glue but don't want to unless I know it will work because it's a bi*&h to get off if it doesn't. I also don't want to drill.
Does anyone have a recomendation and/or a product that will work.
The bracket will hold the backup camera monitor so it isn't a heavy object.
My radar detector mount is screwed into the plastic trim around the top of the windshield, has stayed in place for about a year and still seems solid.
Short, medium-size sheet metal screws. Pre-drilled the holes, undersize.
If removed, screw holes would be mostly hidden but could be plugged with some black silicone rubber if desired.
I took a 90' angle and jamed one end between the roof and the molding (I never remove the roof) and am using it as a lip for the device to rest on. Then used molding tape as before. I am seeing if that's enough extra support to work. I'll let you know and post pictures when I am reasonably sure it works.
