I will be moving in a few months and was wondering if my base model C6 will fit on the car trailer from uhaul. I am sure it will be a pain to get it on/off of it as far as ground clearance but before I even start messing with that I need to know if the tires are to wide for it. Anyone here ever put their C6 on one?
Your base C6 will fit on the uhaul trailer. Just finished moving from TN to CA. Trailer worked fine. Loading/unloading were a pain but there's a thread on here that can help. If you can't find it, send me an e-mail address. I'll tell you what I had to do to get my GS on, and secure.
I will probably put car in the yard and back the trailer up to it to cut down on the elevation difference. Do you think that 6" difference will be enough that I don't have to worry about scraping while loading/unloading?
It should. The boards add up to 6" in height. Also, you'll need two 3/4 inch wrench/sockets to remove the plate so your front end will make it over the front of the trailer. I removed them, pulled the vette forward leaving room so I could put them back, then inched the car forward to secure her. I also had 2X4s (three across, about 18" long) to lift the front end just a little more. These 2X4s will fit between the metal bar and the front of the trailer.
Well, not a C6 but I moved a considerably heavier Chrysler Sebring from Florida to New York on a Penske trailer behind a 16 foot rental truck. The trailer is well built and rides nicely on 4 good sized wheels. I would think U-haul would have similar rigs. Good luck with your hauling adventure.
This is probably the info you need. My only caveat is try to make sure U-haul gives you a good, sound, safe trailer. As you probably know, some of their equipment can be pretty "iffy".
