Default Top Panel Seal Lubricant

Yes, there have been several threads posted on roof panel problems and their corrective actions....'Talon90's' being the best. There also seems to be several opinions on the type of lubricant used on the roof panel seals/gaskets. What are you using?

From the manual:
Weatherstrip Conditioning

Weatherstrip Lubricant (GM Part No. U.S. 3634770, in Canada 10953518)

or

Dielectric Silicone Grease (GM Part No. U.S. 12345579, in Canada 992887).
If it's good enough the the people who build the car it's good enough for me.

The dealer and I had done all the items in the GM bulletin to make my transparent top quieter, but I had stayed with the dielectric silicone grease because that's what the original Owner Manual recommends.

Unfortunately, the rattling had stopped but I was still getting a lot of squeaking and popping. Finally, without my "permission", the dealer applied the Superlube paste; and the top has been totally quiet for the last 9 months/11,000 miles. I don't like the white-ish residue it leaves on the rubber, but it sure solved my problem.

I use Armorall or similar on mine just to keep the rubber from drying out. I tried the grease when I first got the car and after riding around with the top off I found a bunch of dirt and other crap stuck all over the place where the grease was. In the heat it becomes a sticky mess.

For a few lucky people, this is true.
Our 2009 came with the updated latches and still had 4 other problems that had to be found/fixed, before the roof got quiet.

I have used the 1Z Einszett Rubber Care Stick “Gummi Pflege" from AutoGeek on my 2008 coupe and it seemed to help on all the seals except the driver's door glass seal - that one still makes some noise; perhaps it wears off quickly due to the window indexing when opening/closing the door? I used the ACE superlube on the top locator pins and the front latches/strikers along with the e-clip mod and the popping has disappeared. I may try using the superlube on the driver's side seal, but I'm a little concerned about the potential mess and attracting dust......
Enjoy,

Lube = Gummi may be the best. Benz and Porsche recommended for squeaking as I recall.

Die-electric = Preserves w/s. Also aids in water sealing. Its grease; it lubes. GM recommended for years.
