Love my C6, HATE THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM!!!! Is it me? Can we find out who wrote the manual so that we can cane him/her? The VZ Navigator on my $90 cell phone is easier to use! Can anyone out there actually make sense of the instruction manual (see 2.4; go to 4.8, refer to 3.7 !!!!). The damn screen decided on it's own to switch to a black background and I can't get it back to white. And what the hell is "OFF" on the upper left corner for? On top of it all, you can't even stop in a gas station for directions anymore, the attendants all just got here from India and don't have a clue where anything is! Please tell me I'm not the only one.
Guess I just gotta go back to my old ESSO maps !!!

I have a Garmin that runs circles around the one included with the car. For the price of the upgrade disc for the standard navigation unit you could buy a decent Garmin and then never have to bother with the built in unit again.
I have yet to have a problem with mine and I'm on my 2nd C6 with NAV. Yes, Garmin makes a great unit and I use one in my daily driver but I also think the NAV in my Vette is great.
It is the worst Nav system I have ever had in any of my cars. Absolutely sucks!!!! Not only does it suck, it comes across looking so cheap and oh well just cheap and that's in a 2010 ZR1. Just pure garbage!! One in the Escalade is much better, why the hell just not use that one? Makes too much sense I guess.
GM can take this Nav system and their Carlise Blue and bury it in their tailpipe
Is it the best one out there, No, Does it work, Yes. I have only used my a few times and I agree, its about 6 years outdated. The ones in my Nisans, blow this unit away. BUT, it is what it is. What I do like is the turn directions displaying in the HUD. Pretty cool.
So if you depend on the NAV in your car, then either get use to it or upgrade. If you are like me, only a casual user, then its fine.
I just got my '08 C6, NAV was not on my shopping list, but this one had it, so I thought. . . okay, that's cool. But I'm sure having trouble figuring it out! First of all, i had to get a disc with my region on it, now I still can't get it to recognize my town!
I knew there was a tutorial thread on here, so I'm goin to reserve judgement until I work through that.

Not as simple to use as the Garmin but the stock NAV is pretty good only if you read the manual. If you do not read or read the manual the stock NAV is no good then.

I was spoiled with my Nav in my 6 series. the graphics were great compared to my C6 which looks like a kid with a crayon drew..
I have no use for the factory NAV and carry my Garmin with me using a home made mount that rests in the forward cupholder.
On a trip to the Talladega Super speedway a couple of weeks ago, I tried(again) to use the factory NAV. Sitting in my drive in Springfield, MO, I tried to input 850 Speedway Industrial Drive, Lincoln, AL. Never could get past "Speedway" when trying to input the address. Would not light up the "I" so I could continue with the "industrial" part of the address.
Could someone that feels the factory NAV is the most wonderful contraption made, tell me how to input that address, so that next year I can use my $1750 factory NAV instead of my $100 Garmin to find my motel?
Thanx for the interesting replies. Wonder if the satisfaction split correlates to the ages of the users? (Me? 67yrs. young!) I'm holding on to my old ESSO maps no matter what!
Personally I think the nav is fairly decent with a lot of capabilities. If you compare it to what I have in my BMW 745i...ours in the C-6's is a dream compared to the nightmare some dufas at BMW came up with. Trust me, ours is nice.

I read the manual from front to back, as well as the tutorial on here, and once you understand it, the system works fairly well. I haven't had any problems using it, in different areas. It's not as slick as the one in my '10 Mercedes, but it gets the job done once you get the hang of using it.
I've had Nav in every vehicle for quite a few years now. Infiniti and Lexus Nav systems are awesome. Even the one in my Escalade is pretty dang good. I know how to run them and work all the features. The one's they put in the Corvette are cheap looking, graphics are crap, and you have to read a friggen manual to figure it out because everything is done azz backwards and you can't find things easily.
What really pisses me off with them is they aren't smart enough to re-direct and keep telling you to flippen turn at every intersection for a 100 miles before it figures out this dude is going his own way so I guess our road is out now so let's help him out. All my other cars (after a few legal u-turn tips) say recalculating and get on track with me. Problem with this is when you are in an area that you have no clue about then you don't know what to believe and if you follow the stupid Corvette GPS you'll get where you want to get but you'll go out of your way on a stupid back road.
Fix for this crap GPS is make sure my Ipad and wi-fi hotspot are always with me on a trip in the Vette.
