You can also try the trick that I learned here on the forum...you push the recirc button until the light goes on and it cuts off the warm air in the footwells and makes them significantly cooler....when its hot, the difference is amazing. This is without turning on any of the A/C system.
I always thought that when you push the recirc button it TURNS ON the AC!
Love my vert, but as you know vettes get pretty hot inside the cabin. Today was 98* and stop and go traffic was not helping. What is everybodies input on running the air with the top down. I figure even with the top up....the AC would be running constant and would have the same risk of icing the compressor (if that is even a risk) as running constant w/top down. It's hard to believe but it makes a huge difference in comfort having cold air blowing on you.
Thanks for your input
I don't understand "icing the compressor"? You can run it all the time, if you want. that's what the auto setting is for. Just set the temp. you want and you're good to go. It won't harm anything.
I do it all the time. Helps take the edge off those toasty Florida days. Never had any issues.
Absolutely. I live in Fla. My AC -both sides - is set on 60 whether the top is up or down. I just use the fan to control it.
Otherwise, the top down in Florida in summer would be unbearable.
You know, you can always tell the tourists from the locals by the way they drive their convertibles. The locals have the top down in winter and up in summer. The tourists have the tops down in summer.

Same here. 20 degrees in the winter top down heat on.
It was severe clear and 103 the other day, Top is always down all summer unless it's actually raining. Something about that little hint of cool air hitting you while baking. The top of my head has the best tan...
Hey I drove about 1500 miles through Florida last month. 90% with the top down. I'm brown enough to prove it. I burn the heck out of my ears. Just about got my head to the miserable point.
