Default Car won't start

After 6 years of perfection today I get nothing but clicks. Tried everything including disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Battery is new a year ago so I hope that's not it. The DIC says no fob sometimes (not every time, though) but even putting it in the glovebox port does nothing. All I get is one or two clicks but the doors and all accessories work fine. Anything I can try?

The car is nose in in my garage, stuck in Park, of course, not sure how a tow guy will be able to get it out, if it comes to that.

Good thing I have a job that I can work from home...

when all you hear is clicks, do the lights turn on and then turn off? try turning on the interior lights and check if they're weak or bright, i had this happen to me a few times, turned out it was a battery, i just cleaned the battery terminals real good because it was also only a year old! its been working fine for the past 4 months now.

Should start thinking about a battery tender if in fact it is a battery problem.

Hope that helps.

^ Lights come on normally. No dimming or anything. It's a daily driver so I hope I don't need a battery tender overnight...

Does the DIC display still work even though the car won't start? If so, pull up the volts display and tell us what it says.

Do you have a digital multimeter by any chance? If so, just measure the DC voltage at the battery terminals. If it's not 12.5-12.6 volts, your battery charge is low.

Give the gentleman a cigar! 9.5 volts. I put a charger on it, I'll see what it does in a couple hours. Thanks.

Charged for 1.5 hours and it started right up... DIC now says 14.1 volts. Letting it trickle charge for a while then it's off to the battery seller... Hope it's that and not an alternator.

Daily driver. Drove it home from work yesterday and parked it... Now that reading was after many attempts at starting with all the lights and accessories coming on each time. That may have drained a few volts. Going in after lunch to have the battery checked and replaced if that's what it turns out to be.

Batteries can go bad, even newer ones. I would get it all charged up and then see what happens...you may have left something on also.

If not driven or something is left on the drain with give you clicks, have the battery checked to see if it is ok after the drain

Check the battery connections. Any sign of corrosion? Green? Loose wires will strand you quicker than snot with corrosion!

I don't think you can "leave something on" any more as it all shuts off in 20 minutes or so when unattended. Even if you leave the door or hatch wide open it shouldn't drain too much.

The OP is talking about parasitic drain. Something that may have a short. This isn't something that the computer would normally turn off.

Well, it was just the battery. Charging system is working fine with the new battery in. Relativey cheap fix, at least.

Keep your battery receipts! Last time my battery "died" it was only a year old. Took it back to Advanced Auto Parts with my purchase receipt, they tested it as bad, and I got a free new battery.

A few years ago I went to Sears and bought 2 new deep cycle batteries for my trailer. When I got home I installed the batteries and checked the fluid level. One of the batteries was empty, so I brought it back. The sales guy started to give me a hard time. I convinced him to check other batteries on the shelf. Guess what half of them were empty.

Every day or so there is another thread on bad batteries.I guess the manufacturers are running out of lead.
switches
lights on
relays
parasitic drains
factory battery
Optima battery
DBS
battery tenders
check amperage draw
low volts???????/
cell phone plugged in
reflash of CPU
to hot
to cold
finding outlets at the airport or motel
now the manufacturers are making a batch of bad batteries

Could it POSSIBLY be that the Corvettes have some sort of electrical PROBLEM? As a community of Corvette owners, with or without need of immediate help with this problem, isn't there a way to once and for all
combine talents with or without GM to solve this phantom problem. If you don't have it now,you might have it later and you'll know the frustration of chasing down this type of problem in a very sophisticated
electronically controlled vehicle.
If you feel it is not a "real" problem, just keep buying battery chargers and new batteries. Thanks
