Default Mixing Nitto Invo on the front .. Nitto NT05 on the back ?

I have looked virtually everywhere ... Nitto Invo 325 / 30 -19 tires must now be made out of that mystery compound called "Unobtainium" ... They are nowhere to be found!

So, what do you think of running the standard size 275 / 35 -18" Nitto Invo on the front, [and] a set of Nitto NT05 335 / 30 -19 on the rear of my GS?

The 335 is only 0.24" taller than the 325, so that should not be a problem. The width is so small of a difference, it should still fit well on the stock 19" x 12" rear wheels.

I guess it would be no difference than running a set of Drag Radials on the back of the car.

I am just worried about handling .. Do you think it would make for a negative effect?

And lastly ... I got a bad feeling that the soft compound of the NT05 Nittos might only get me about 12,000 miles to comlete wear out (even if my slow-driving wife drives the car most of the time)

Any thoughts? .... Hey, I just can't find a set of Nitto 325 / 30 -19 Invos for the rear, no matter how hard I look ... the NT05s are now option "B" since I already ordered the new Invos for the front.

Thank's for any input,
Ron

No problem at all many even run 345s out back with the 275s up front, so go for it

Okie Dokie ... Just called the very last of my tire contacts about 2 minutes ago ... NO Nitto Invo 325 / 30ZR-19" tires!

They are SOLD OUT everywhere in the US to include Ebay!

Unless I hear from someone posting somthing ugly about mixing Invos on the front and NT05s on the rear, I am calling Discount Tire Direct in about 10 minutes and ordering the NT05s for the rear.

Thank's,
Ron

On my C5 I ran Nitto Extreme 555s on the front and NT-01s on the rear for years and zero issues except the NTs are not good rain tires

Why not just run the NT-05 all around? It's a much better handling tire than the Invo ever thought about.

Good suggestion ... I would run the NT05s all the way around, but I have a set of front Invos on the way from Discount Tire Direct already.

I actually ordered Invo's for the rear too, but after placing the order, they sent me an email and told me the 325 Invo's were on National Backorder ... so I just accepted delivery of the front tires.

What pisses me off is that many of these vendors don't indicate on there website that an item is out of stock ... you only find out about it after you place your order and give them your credit card info ... not a bright idea as to how to run a website when your in the retail business.

Anyway, now I have a set of Invo front tires on the way ... and no matching Invo rear tires anywhere in sight!

The NT05 fronts should be back ordered also from what I have found.

Do you suppose that in spite of what we see here on the forum - Nitto's are a very popular tire and as a result the demand is higher than expected? Standing by for a flame job...

... no flame here! I like the tires... perhaps a little squirrelly at the limit but acceptable all things considers... Many many times better then the GY RF's that they replaced!!

I just picked up two of them from America's tire on the June 5th. Call Nitto directly and have them find out who has them. That's what I did.

Thank's ... Well, it's too late now. I have a set of 275 / 35ZR -18" Nitto Invo's coming for the front and a set of 335 / 30ZR -19" Nitto NT05's coming for the rear from Discount Tire Direct.

Maybe by the time the rear NT05's are worn out, the Nittos will be available again.

i would like to hear an answer for the origingal post, because i'm also concerned about it.

i already have the 275 / 35 -18" Nitto Invo on the front with 12K miles on them. i am thinking about keeping the Invo's in front and only replacing the rear tires with NT05 335 / 30 -19 on the rear?

is it okay to mix different tires (fron: invo , rear: NT05)? how does it affect performance, stability, and handling?

I was told NO, the wheels with different tread patterns/designs, especially those for different applications (ie drag v street, symmetrical v non symmetrical) will want to track differently from front to back.

The NT05s have considerably more grip than the Invos. That's going to be further compounded by the fact that the NT05s are brand new. With Invos front and NT05s rear, your car is going to have a much higher tendency to understeer (push) in corners. Whether this is dangerous depends on whether you're prepared for it. An autocross with the new tire combo should be sufficient to get you comfortable with the new handling characteristics.

Bumping this thread... anyone run Nitto Invos on front and a really sticky tire out back on the road course? In my case, it'll be R888R in the back, Invos in the front.

Why would you want to do that? Nobody likes understeer. Get r888r for the fronts too.
