Default poor xm reception?

my '06 has really poor xm reception? Is this typical of these cars. My '07 chevy pickup doesn't have any issues like the vette does. Where is the antenna on these cars? Is reception poor because how low to the ground these cars are?

I think the '05's are the ones that are different, all the rest are the same. Ours gets fantastic reception, except inside tunnels.

No, it's typical of where you live. Not all signals come from satellites. Some are from repeater stations. Sounds like there are too many obstructions between you and the repeater station(s).

I've had very good reception on all my satellite radios.

I never had a problem with my 06 or my current 2010. Yes, tunnels, very wide over-passes, and sometimes being on the wrong side of a mountain may cause a slight disruption.

Love my new Jeep GC, but noticed the Sirius kicks out if a crow flies over. Corvette reception much better than the Jeep.

Before I canceled XM, my 09 Coupe always had poor reception compared to my Escalade EXT.
In the Coupe it was Always fading out and poor quality when it wasn't fading out
But with the Lade it rarely faded out and quality was good

yeah what gives. I don't have any of these issues with my '07 pickemup truck, same roads, neighborhoods, etc all work where the vette does not. Where is the antenna?

I've been "Lade." Didn't know I was driving a Cadillac. Okay, some yes. Others more like rusted out old Chevies or Fords.

Well I don't know if I'm cool or not but you're the first person to say I'm cool
You may have just started a trend
All I know is all/most of the members on the Cadillac Forum use the word Lade to refer to their Escalade.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's not much different than calling a Corvette a Vette.
Of course it is only a guess on my part and haven't been on the Lade Forum lately.
Woops, I meant the Escalade Forum

From '06 on the XM antennas are in the mirrors. One's a SAT and the other is for the ground-based repeaters.

SAT Radios with antennas on the roof of a large metal vehicle will always outperform the C6 Radios. Comparisons are pointless.

If the problem is new, it might have something to do with the recent solar flare activity.

The actual reception on our 2006 and then 2009 was/is ok, very seldom had drops or fadeouts.

But the XM audio quality was pretty poor on both cars. Eventually we went to a PAL/Ipod and never looked back, except to cancel our XM subscription.

That is strange... I wish I had more info on what could be the cause of this. If it's really bothersome, you could always take it in to the dealer. Let us know what you end up doing!

Just arrived last night. Fourteen hours from Dallas to Jacksonville. Lost XM one time in the tunnel under Mobile Bay.

I constantly lose XM on the New England roads because trees lining the roads. Only the major highways have decent reception.

the more I am driving the car the more I come to the realization that unless on the highway the xm is pretty useless. I do notice along with others that the quality is less and the volume is not near as loud. I guess it is what it is.... Like I said, compared to my truck this is way worse, the truck has almost no issues.
