Last year I painted my calipers and came out mint. Recently I noticed that the paint is fading off and I need to touch them up in some areas.
How should I prep the calipers? I dont want to use brake cleaner and take off all the existing paint, although I want to get all the brake dust and grease off so the paint will stick well.
Any suggestions?
Dunno if you want "mint" colored calipers, but they should go well with carlisle blue. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
Use paint thinner as it won't attack the paint but it'll clean the grease/dust. Be sure to remove the pads.
Or, You can also use isopropyl alcohol (IPA) if you're leaving the padlets in place. Rubbing alcohol is 70% IPA and 30% water. This will work but take longer. And, it's readily available!
