Default Spring Mountain scheduled !

So I got the call and they are going to honor the goof up and I get 3 days of class and I get the condo for free. All set for Aug. 15-17th. I will have pictures and video to share after or during the class

What else should I know about the area and things I can do and see after class if over for the day?

It's a great driving school.

Get a pair of driving shoes if you don't already have some (they sell them there as well).

Oh, and prostitution is legal in that county. . . not that I recommend that or anything. . . .

You can get a nice pair of Piloti shoes at their shop. And they're prices are very reasonable. The shoes are great. I wear them a lot when I'm not in the office.

When my wife and I took the course, we each bought wrestling shoes - very thin soles give you good pedal feel. In the "real world," you won't be trying to catch an instructor on a race track, heel and toeing, etc.

I also had a pair of sailing gloves (no fingertips) that were very helpful, since my palms tend to sweat when I'm pushing hard.

As far as evening activities are concerned, we were both pretty beat by the end of the day. A drink, quiet dinner & glass of wine, and I was pretty much ready for bed. They will give you a workout!

It's a blast - hsve fun!

Does Spring Mountain ever offer discounted courses when trying to fill classes on short notice, forum discounts, etc?

Not sure, but I doubt it. In Aug they are giving you free nights in the condos though, hence me going in Aug.

Back in the day (2001, iirc), the Forum was able to put together a special one-day course at what was then the Bragg-Smith race course. Nothing like the facility it's become today - very bare-bones, but we still had a blast. I think the special one-day deal was $700 to use their Corvettes. The instructors were great.

It was our first ride in a Z06. We bought one shortly after.

After class ends for the day, you'll be ready to relax a bit, maybe take a swim in the pool. A couple pretty decent restaurants near the track right in Pahrump, and if you're feeling like a drive, it's about 50 minutes to Vegas. Nice little family owned Italian place right in town, can't recall the name, but one of the staff can tell you. Rick Malone's a great guy, you'll enjoy your time there, and you'll learn a lot in the process.

Hi garret!

looking forward to seeing you in the school!
Here are a few points of interest/suggestions: Most folks who come to our school stay at the condos, like you, have a swim at the pool or workout in the fitness center, hang out at the club house, have dinner locally and call it a night, as it's a pretty demanding, but fun day. We do have a 18 hole golf course basically next door, with a nice restaurant in there. there are a few casinos here, if you are into that, as well as a great steakhouse at the pahrump nuggett, nice italian fare at tomassino's, pretty authentic mexican food at el jefe's, and last, my personal favorite Ojah, japanese steakhouse and awesome sushi. the winery is also great, and if you stay the third day and night, it's worth a stop, as it's closed on monday and tuesday. it's only 5 minutes from the track.
if you decide to make the trip into las vegas, there is no shortage of things to do there. take in dinner and a show like Le Reve at the Wynn, just saw it and loved it. red rock canyon is a beautiful, one way drive, on the way there, just off hwy 160..of course hoover dam is on the way to vegas, if you are driving from arizona, if not it's also a short drive. Downtown is old vegas, really cool light display over most of fremont street, and dollar shrimp cocktails. If you want to stay away from the strip or downtown I highly recommend Town Square, it's on las vegas blvd south, just off the I-15. it's got great shopping, cineplex, and lots of restaurants, like the yard house...great beer

death valley is to the west of us, about 50 minutes away, if you want to feel the real heat! and you may catch a few cars you're not supposed to see, as they do a lot of hot weather testing around that time. just take plenty of water
hope this helps!
see you soon.

Congrats on getting that scheduled!

We're waiting on a letter to return from GM, but we will also be honoring the third day that some Vette owners were promised in a goof letter. All ZR1 owners that bought in Jan and Feb have always been allocated the third day as well.

If anybody is wondering, Bondurant is offering at least 10% summer discounts and we do run specials at events that we are promoting at as well, (i.e. Barret-Jackson, GM Nationals in Carlisle, etc.) Give us a call for current specials.

Have fun!

Awesome, sushi...I'm there! Thanks for the info...I'm trying to stay away from driving all the way into Vegas, but maybe if others wanted to go I might. I can sit around, drink cocktails and have a cigar if all else fails

Perfect!
during the summer the school gets done by 3, so you'll have a little extra time at the end of the day too.

I remember too, Victor. I was thinking: who is this whack-job standing at the apex of a corner curb showing me where to put my inside tire!

I also remember the "good cop / bad cop" Daves. "Bad cop" Dave would smack your hand if you put your right hand on the shifter when you weren't actually shifting.... Kinda like Sister smacking you with the sharp edge of a ruler. That was a real no-no -- both hands on the wheel, and "look where you want to go."

At the end of the course, Rupert took my (then) 58-year-old wife on a couple of hot laps in the SuperNatural - I don't know how many other "Granny's" have been on that ride, but she hasn't been the same since....

ah yes, that was me, it was the only way to get you guys on the apexes!
we've given lots of rides over the years, and each one i think is very memorable for the passenger, and depending on how much they screamed, for us too
