I use Iphone 4. When I have an incoming call I press the button on the steering wheel to pick it up. On many occasions the switch doesn't engage the call at all or I have to press it several times to get it to connect. Is it a phone or car's mulfunction ?
You have to hold the button down for a few seconds. I have an I phone and if I just press the button, it doesn't always pick up.
I have an iPhone (and a 2011 GS NAV) as well, and you have to hold the button for a little longer that a "press" (like a second or two). That being said, it still is sometimes hit and miss. Sometimes the bluetooth will engage properly, sometimes the phone just answers and the bluetooth won't be functioning....the radio is still blasting, and the phone has answered the call so the caller gets to enjoy a little "music on hold" while I'm trying to figure out how to get the audio source (on the phone) set to vehicle.
It does really bother me when this happens. I've made the decision to never text while driving because I've seen the issues that happen when others think they can do it. Jerking around with your phone settings when answering a call requires that same inattention to the road. I've sometimes just let a call go to voice mail for fear of having to fumble around answering it when the hands free system fails to operate properly (i.e. turn off the stereo, pick up the phone, determine if it answered or not, reset the audio source to vehicle, etc.).
Thanx guys, I am a very technical person so I did naturally tried to hold down the switch, double press and any other gimmicks. Sometimes it picks up right away but many times it doesn't. Wonder if it's strictly the Iphone's issue?
I'm a technical person as well....a few more observations....it seems to work better if the phone has been "rebooted" recently. And for what it's worth, the iPhone 4 works better with the car than an iPhone 3G. I typically have the phone on the cup holder (with the lid closed, charging from the lighter plug in the center console), so maybe too close to the head unit (I doubt it, but you never know)?
