So I am having a issue where my 2005 C6 Base Model will start to shutter and the wheels lock up and the "Service Active Handling" light comes on.. Within a few sec it turns the traction control off and it usualy good to go. Today it happened again and this time it sounded real bad in the front end as if the rubber came off one wheel and i was driving with a warped tire or a flat.. "service Active Handling" and "active Handling" kept flashing I stopped, waited and then tried to drive again and it didnt go away..(Very Scary Moment) As I was thinking about calling roadside I turned the car on and off a few times then slowly tried pulling away and it then seemed ok. I got home and parked the car. This doesnt happen very often but in the past 3 months about 7 times which this time being the worst.
I know that this was a issue with some members where it was a recall but I check and there is no recalls with my car and GM wont do nothing for me unless I give them my wallet. And I was looking at the recall and its for Telescopic stearing wheels but mine doesnt have telescopic option.
So My question is .. 1st.. Anyone know wha tthe hell is going on?
and 2nd.. Is there a way to maybe Pull the fuse for active handling and traction control? I always drive with traction control off anyways.. I just dont want this to happen on the highway going 100+KM/H.
I also am not in the position right now to be paying GM all kinds of money either.. So Some help would be greatly appreciated from my fellow brothers!

If you hold down the traction control button for five or ten seconds, both traction control and active handling are disabled. Assuming that still works.
Your car is reporting a fault with active handling while continuing to engage active handling. The system is not failing safe. I'd make a stink with GM.
I usually go to Bill or Dyno over at Grand Sport Motors in Thornhill Ontario. They are vette experts and they do great service and don't cost my kidneys. Maybe they can take a look at it. http://www.grandsportmotors.com/ Or at most, give them a call and describe the problem and see what they recommend.
