1/8 mile
I'm thinking of running 1/8 mile track.
What kind of times can I expect to run?
2010 GS M6.

I went to the local track for the 1st time ever about 2 months ago and was running 8.2-8.5 at between 86-92 mph. Obviously I am no expert and am running an 09 stock with the auto w/2.73 gears and Npp. Hope this helps.

Thanks.
I guess I should practice my power shifting before
I get to the track.
Would the end be in 2nd or 3rd gear?

once you run your car you will get the bug! The biggest thing you can do to drop your time is get some drag radials, if you have factory runcraps you will have a very hard time getting any traction. Doing a burn out will not help your traction at all, just drive around the water box and spin just enough to clean any trash off your tire.

3rd. 2nd gear tops out at about 70 mph.

Hardest part is getting a good launch and good 60' time. Takes practice. Don't be disapointed if your times are not fast at first.

To the OP. Doesn't the 2010 GS have launch control in competition mode? Let the car do the work.

From your statement I am guessing that you have never tried the Launch Control.

I encourage you to try it once....all mine did was spin like mad.
Tried it on two different occasions, with the same results each time. And I followed the instructions to the letter. It was a bit better on the second attempt after putting the PS2's on it,but still not remotely close to what even an average driver could better.

The closest track to me is 1/8 mile and it's actually a fun place. Once I started autocross and then road courses, I stopped doing drag strips.

If inexperience is an issue I would expect a high 8 to 9 second time.

I was at the drags last week. Junior dragsters run just under 8 second 1/8 mile times
