C3 guy here('77)...getting ready to buy a C6('08 GS 3LT).
Dumb question I know, but does the '08 have a Owners Manual (book) or is it only in CD form.
Once again, sorry for the "Duh" question.
Thanks,
Bobby
Hey Bobby - welcome to the C6 world. You're gonna LOVE it!!!
The Owner's Manual is a printed book.
However, take a look at the stickies at the top of the C6 General section and check in the thread titled:
Sticky: ** The Official C6 Mega Thread of DIY and FAQ's ..LOOK INSIDE!! **
In there, click on the C6 FAQ thread and you can scroll down and find links to various model year manuals. Here's a link to the 2008 manual so you can start reading:
It’s a book that comes with the car that is if the previous owner left it there. If not download on here!
You will be quite a ways ahead of a lot of the C6 owners in the country by reading through it. Its quite apparent from being on here since I got my first C6 in 05 that 80% of the owners never read it!
Will keep you from locking yourself out with fob in the car (controllable by owner) it will let you know most of the other secrets like hidden trunk/hatch key. Many other little things also!
You’re going to be way ahead of the curve even for buyers of a new C6 as the sales guys know little about the car and do not want to waste their precious time explaining anything even if they do know it!
My pre-owned '06 did come with the printed book but I like using the electronic (PDF) version I downloaded from GM. Much quicker and easier to search for and find the information you need. I keep the paper version in its little glove compartment nest for other times it may be needed.
I would suggest you read the owner's manual while sitting in the car. It's easier to make adjustments, personal settings, memory settings, etc. while sitting in the car and it is fresh in your mind.
If you read the book you'll understand why the car honks at you three times when you get out and walk too close along the side, or what to do if you lock the FOB in the car. What to do if the FOB battery goes dead. How to reindex the window if the battery is dead or disconnected, etc.
Since you have the Z51 you might want to check for grease fittings in the rear at the end of the strut rods right next to the backside of the rotor. Make sure they get greased periodically.

I will do that. Thanks for the advice.
There are a few more buttons on the '08 than on the '77.
