The only "common" issues I've seen are the occassional roof interior tear issue (not an '08-only issue?? not sure), airbag lights on the IP due to problems with the under-seat connectors for the airbag and/or the seatbelt pretensioner explosive device (not an '08-only issue), and the swaybar end links wearing too quickly and causing suspension clacks/clunks (not an '08-only issue).
My own car had the DVD drive for the navigation map DVD crap out.
Other than that, my '08 is doing quite well, thank you, at nearly 26K miles.
I have an 08 JSB 3LT vert, great car, only issues were the "A" pillar trim replaced on both interior sides and driver exterior trim. Also the top liner already mentioned. Put on Michelin PS2 sport and the ride is wonderful.

Precisely what I'm looking at, with the A6 tranny. What happens to the trim/top liner? Since this will be likely out of warranty, it would be good to know.
Make sure that the rear end fluid has been updated to the new one that GM recommended. I had mine done under warrenty (barely). The original fluid caused a low pitched grinding noise when going at low speeds and turning. Now no more noise.
In addition to the comments everyone else is making, I would say be sure to cycle the top a few times to make sure it functions properly. The power tops have a bunch of mechanical operations that are controlled by micro switches in the top. If it functions correctly then all should be good with them.
just remember that , to an extent, the C6 is a far more "electrical/computer controlled" car than your C5. that means things can, and will go wrong such as those top sensors. or a gas pedal sensor (mine), or low tech stuff like a sweating/leaking oil pan area (can be gasket, seal or porous pan, mine), rear diff fluid swap, etc. some of it may (stress: may) be inherent in the design or production since outside vendors are used, or it could just be a premature failure. regardless, it can happen at any time.
I really enjoy my 2008 Crystal Red Vert, I like the Bluetooth on the 2011CTS-V I just purchased, and while it would be nice to have on the Vette, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me on the 2008.
