Default Window Problems?

My passenger window is indexing up and down when the door is opened and closed. But it is hitting the trim on the a-piller at the front of the window when opened and closed. Is there any adjustment to the window? I have tried to reindex and it does not fix the problem.

Just for clarity, are you saying it indexes correctly, both down when the door is opened and up when the door is closed?

If yes to that, then are you saying even though it is indexing correctly, the window still hits the A-pillar when the door is opened and closed?

Yes that is exactly my problem. The door does not seem out of adjustment either, it is good.

How are you doing the index procedure? If its being done correctly, by all rights, the window should pull away enough to clear. If still not, then you probably need to take the inside door panel off and manually adjust the window, then do the indexing again.

I am indexing according to the manual. So you can adjust the window after removing the door panel?

Then I have to say, if this "just started happening" it has to be an indexing issue.

Nothing was wrong before, correct? Then suddenly the window just started hitting the A-pillar?

The easiest place to start is indexing, both DOWN and UP. Note the door has to be closed to index the window.

Get in the car
Close the door for the window being reinitialized.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Run the window to the full up position and hold the switch continuously for an additional 3 seconds after the window has reached the top, and release. Pull the switch up and hold again for 3 seconds and release.
Run the window to the full down position and hold the switch continuously for an additional 3 seconds after the window reaches the bottom and release. Push the switch down and hold again for 3 seconds and release. Done.

See if that fixes it.

I will try to reindex again when I get home in an hour. I think I have only been indexing up and not in the rolled down position. Hopfully this will work. Thanks for the help Rick T.

Try this...After you re-index the window, try rolling it down at least half way, then while the door is closed and you are sitting inside the car, place the palm of your hand against the window and slightly apply pressure on it as you roll it up. This way you are guiding the window into place. You might find that you will need to do this on occasion. Hope this works for ya

St.Char the door only hits or I should say rubs the a piller when opening and closing. Otherwise goes up and down fine. It seems like it needs to index down maybe another millimeter or two when opening the door.

It is only the very bottom maybe one inch of the A-piller that rubs. Maybe it has always done this.
