has anyone had their shift lever lock and when you press on the brake it will not come out of park? Sometimes I can go for days with no problem then when i start the car put my foot on the brake and try to shift out of park its locked up.I push down on the release button and it stays locked?
Is there an electric solenoid that releases it when you put you foot on the brake and then push the button on the shifter to get it out of park?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!

I think there is a TSB for it. Check the FAQ section.
Yes, had that problem on my 05 too. Took it to the dealer who replaced the solenoid, it was better but didn't fix it. Turned out to be a micro switch in the shifter, under the boot up front. For reasons I can't fathom, the arm was misaligned just a tad. It worked sometimes and then it wouldn't. I took the shifter out broke it down and put it back together making sure the micro switch was engaged when it should be. When the button is depressed.

If you still want to know the operation of the interlock it is as follows. The shift lever has a micro switch that engages when the lever is in the Park position. This micro switch enables the circuit that is activated when you step on the brake pedal which in turn operates the solenoid that unlocks the shifter.
This explanation is not all inclusive it's a bit more complicated.
