Default Why not 2LT?

Looked at some GS's at Kerbeck today on the way back from Cape May. They had a ton of GS's in stock, a few basic coupes, and not a one ZO6. Salesman said the GS has killed the ZO6 sales.
I may be in the market for a GS and was looking at the 2LT option. It may be the best for me as I won't need the heated seats because the car will be driven seldom in the winter. Don't care for the HUD either, just another expense if it breaks.
Can't see all the extra bucks for a couple options I won't need. What are your opinions? 2LT lovers?

I love the heads up heat in the seats is nice but i don't think when its that cold out I'll be driving the vette. Resale is better on full option cars.

I would have purchased a 1lz Z at the time if I could have found one. My Corvette is for performance as it is not my DD.

Go 1LT, not worth the now 2012 +$5K for 2LT...all that extra stuff will be extra weight, and extra drain on battery (ie, reflash, shutting down, GPS NAV, blue tooth, etc).....google this forum...

I purchased a 2lt at a great price then added things like HUD (via steve Doten) and Nav ( pioneer x920bt) also purchased glass top and sold my painted one, and last upgraded my wheels. The two options that I wish I had that I believe are only available on 3lt are telescopic steering, and the Bose sound system. I've never driven a Vette with the f55 suspension so I really can't tell you if I would miss that.

I did the same thing...went 1LT and Steve installed the HUD (OHIO install) and went with the kenwood 9980HD. I do wish now I went with NPP...make sure you test that out and decide if it is for you.

I have the 3LT & love all the options even though I never use the heated seats.
Don't be pound foolish & penny wise...a 3LT or even the 4LT [if you have the $$] is the best way to buy a Corvette unless of course it is going to be a garage queen! HUD is a great and you will rely on it constantly if you put any kind of miles on your car at all.
I also would go Z06 vs a GS, unless you like bling that is!

I agree with you the 2lt is fine I got the 1lt and I am happy. All I wanted was a manual 6 speed, NPP and good to go.

Yes going from 70 to 120 in a matter of seconds is very soft.

How much HP does the average Corvette buyer actually need to enjoy their ride? And how much HP can the average Corvette buyer really handle and control?

I like my 2LT; unlike you though I did want the HUD. I didn't want the rest of the 3LT package so I did some research on adding the HUD. Once I figured out how easy and inexpensive it is to add a HUD, the 2LT was a no-brainer for me.

If you think you'll need memory and heated seats or the Bose system then consider the 3LT.

Not to sway you, but just to share some thoughts:

I went 3LT....just for the HUD....and the HUD is one of my absolute favorite "features"....so nice to always be aware of your speed....it's just there in your field of vision all the time.

Also, memory seats seem a waste to me...mine's always all the way back, all the way low and never changes.

But...the heated seats. Living in Southern California, I thought these were a waste too.....that is until I figured out they aren't just for winter. The heated seats allow you to take the top off and enjoy the fresh air when it's a bit cooler or at night....just pop on the heater and turn on the seats and you're warm and toasty even if it's a bit colder out with the top off.

Just two thoughts for you to consider.

I got a base 1LT from Kerbeck about 3 weeks ago. Since then I'ved added the npp exhaust. The only other thing I wish it had factory would be heated seats. I'm gonna do a kenwood nav and if I want a nicer interior I'll get it from DSV or Apsis. What a great car!

For me, the 3LT is the only way to go. The HUD is necessary once you have it; it's something that other cars don't have and it's a feature that you come to rely on. As far as the heated seats are concerned, I drive the car until the first snowfall and then drive it to Florida at the end of December. That being said, the heated seats are a great feature. To each his own...

Same here. I thought who would need heated seats in a Corvette when we first bought our car. Funny thing is we use them all the time on a cool summer night with the top out. So the heated seats would probably be the one option on the 2lt we would miss the most.

For me personally I felt the same as you. That is why I ORDERED a 2LT from Tommy Jr. of MacMulkin Chevrolet in NH. They are a huge dealership and a forum dealer.

Call Tommy Jr. and order EXACTLY what you want and get the Museum Delivery.

He will give you a GREAT price too.

I'm spending the money that I saved on great DSV leather interior mods and other mods.
