competitive driving mode
So i have a 08 auto and my dad just picked up a 09 auto, there twin cars. his has the competitive driving mode after you hit the trac button twice but mine wont do it. was this a option starting in 09 or is my car being goofy? One of my tire sensors are bad so my light is on for that would that make it not work? Thanks for any help.

That is exactly why it isn't working. From your owners manual (Section 4-8, page 252 in the PDF version):
If the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system detects a flat
tire and the Driver Information Center (DIC) displays
TIRE FLAT, or if the TPM system is malfunctioning and
the DIC displays SERVICE TIRE MONITOR, the
Active Handling System will be affected as follows:
• The Active Handling System cannot be turned off by
the driver.
• If the Active Handling System is off, it will be turned
on automatically.
• Competitive Driving Mode is unavailable.
• The Active Handling System will feel different in
aiding and maintaining directional control.

The AH is designed to protect you if you lose pressure in a tire, and even if you have it in Comp or completely off it will turn AH back full on automatically if you're driving down the highway and lose pressure.
When you start the car the AH and TC are full on
After starting, one push of the button turns off TC; AH is still full on
2 quick button pushes turns off TC and puts AH into the Comp mode (AH is still on, but will let the tail end slide around a little more before it kicks in).
Push and hold the button for about 10 seconds and everything will turn off - no TC and no AH at all.

C mode is just for the track. You dont want to use it on the street anyway.
C mode slows down throttle response so when you are road racing and hit a bump in a turn the traction will have a more subtle effect and keep you stable.
On the street you want quick throttle response so C mode is not good for the street.
Best set up for the street IMO is traction control off. This is the first setting on the button. This setting leaves the AH on and traction Control off.
If its raining or you have ice you want all nannys on.

it is the sensor.. i just went through that last week on my new gs... unhooked the battery for bout 5 hours to install strereo goodies and when i put it back i thought the tc was broken.. just needed to drive aroudn the block and the computer saw the sensors again and it worked again
Can you share your source for this info? Nothing I've seen published on AH has ever mentioned this. And having driven Sebring - with possibly some of the worst bumps in the worst spots of any track in the US - I don't see how this would be the least bit helpful. Throttle control is the least of your worries on the bump laden corners.

Thats why it's sluggish in C mode when not WOT
