1) be careful with the discount numbers. I can tell you that the MSRP numbers are not all the same.....they should be, but personal experience with a CF sponsored dealer Vs local dealer says otherwise.
a. CF dealer quoted MSRP for my Centennial at just over $75K & my local dealer was just south of $72K but the invoice price to me was less than $100 difference between the two, with the local dealer being less.
2) I hammered on the '11 with deep discounts Vs a new '12 four hours. Ordered a new one and still got a descent cut on the MSRP. I like the idea of the up-graded tunes and seats plus a few other small refinements.
3) do your homework.....check more that one dealer and compare apples to apples. Figure in the cost of going out of state into the bottom line then go for it.
M.S.R.P. numbers as claimed by dealers may vary but the ones that are printed on the actual factory stickers do not unless there was a price change by G.M.; in such cases, all dealers would be affected. Some dealers like to say that M.S.R.P. is the sum of the actual factory sticker price + their "additional dealer markup" or "market adjustment", both of which are complete b.s.
Nothing worth waiting for. If you plan on keeping the Vette for awhile get the 2011, it is all about future depreciation at this point on whether to get the 11 or the 2012 model.

i have to disagree with that statement. i wanted to upgrade but other than moving from a z51 base to a GS the car was basically the same. i really like the new seats and stereo upgrade as was stated before. also the seats were the reason i went from a 1lt 06 to a 3lt 08. well that and the ls3....
We just traded an 09 3lt coupe for a 2011 3lt GS vert. The coupe had the nav radio, the vert has the single cd radio, they stopped putting the six disc radio in the vettes. The 2011 radio sounds much, much better. The 2012's are going to have the nav. radio standard on a 3lt with a couple extra speakers. Whether that will make the nav radio sound better, i do not know. The first thing my wife noticed is the seats in the 2011 are much firmer and do look better than the 09 since the 11 has a different head rest and maybe more padding. But the seats are more comfortable on the 11 car although we like the seats in both. So whether the seats will be better in the 12, again i do not know. But one thing i do know is that the 12 will cost more.
Anyone have views about whether it's worth the model year changes to wait for a 2012 GS, as opposed to buying a 2011 GS? Tried search, but didn't find a thread on point.
If you are not buying a new car at invoice (or less), you're not doing your homework. It won't eliminate the first year depreciation but the $5K to $7K off MSRP will soften the hit.....also depends on how much value you put on driving a 2012 model in 2011

True but you have a year to pay down the principle so that when the next model comes out the hit is not as much on the 2011 you are being hit right here and now. And everyone is buying at supplier pricing plus 1500 dealer cash.

I agree.
The only diff I'm seeing between a 2011 and a 2012 is the $1500 difference in rebate, so why not get a 2012?
Does anyone know if Crystal Red or Cyber Grey will be available at any point during the 2012 model year? Or has the xyrillac shortage resulted in these two colors not being available for good - Thanks.

i have my 2012 ordered and waiting patiently, (not really,) i wasted almost 2 months on a local dealer that basically told me what i wanted to hear i guess but couldn't produce the car. ordered in may and never saw one movement on my order. i'd likely have it by now if went where i should have gone to begin with. i should see the results in another 5 or 6 weeks i hope.
I ordered July 4th. haven't seen or heard of anything yet either. waiting for the dealer's que to come around. the factory was closed the two weeks after my order posted. i got a great deal on a Inferno Orange 2012 GS 2LT Convertible. I'm with you on this one, good luck!

Thanks - I've got a 2010 coupe and am looking to move up to the GS so waiting isn't a problem since I've got one to drive while I wait - just want to make sure I shouldn't be trying to pick up a 2011 Crystal Red before they are gone.
Anyone know if Cyber Grey will eventually be available in 2012?
Do corvettes depreciate alot? how much would a preowned GS in good condition and low miles cost 2 years from now?
The ZR1 and Z06 may depreciate a bit less due to how many are made however the GS is depreciating more since there are so many of them. The real issue is that when the new C7 model comes out all of them will depreciate much quicker than we would like.

Yes there are more Grand Sports vs the base Corvette, ZR1's and Z06's but look at the total volume of Corvettes vs the 2005 thru 2008 model years. There were 3 or 4 times as many made in those earlier years of the c6 so even tho the GS makes up the bulk of the volume now, it will still be relatively rare for someone looking to buy a used C6. I also believe that because the GS is the choice of most of the current buyers, it will also be the desired model for future used C6 buyers. Therefore, I don't think think it will depreciate faster than other models and in fact, it may hold its value even better. That's my 2 cents.

2 years is about 20 grand regardless of the model. The more expensive the car, the more hit it will take. No big mystery here. Greedy dealers and private sellers who feel otherwise, tend to keep their cars.
