Default Cleaning the Engine

I am getting ready to clean the engine bay and I was wondering if there are components that need to be covered before I proceed.

Please help.

Thank you in advance.

Cover the ECS next to the batt, and any open plugs here and there ...

Hose only on a light spray.... my advice would be to NOT use a power washer.

There is too much electronics in there to chance a power washer.

I spray the rubber with armor all before washing...and definitely no power washer.

A better way (unless it is really dirty!) is to wet a towel with detailer, and wipe the compartment down.

I use Adams All Purpose cleaner on and then a light rinse (almost mist) with a gardern hose.

A Swifter duster will get out a lot of dirt/dust that would otherwise be unreachable. If you do put water on the engine, make sure it isn't hot.

No water hose will ever touch my engine, as mentioned prior, wipe down with a damp cloth, I use Griots Speed Shine, then go over the hoses with Turtle Wax tire shine in the green bottle. Perfect.

I usually cover the battery, the belt tensioner pulley, the TPS, fuse box, alternator, and the cooling fan motors. Keep the hose sprayer on a fan spray or fine mist.

Still only one fan and one motor on that fan.

(as it comes from the factory)
