I asked this question in the C6 Parts forum as I need to buy one.

The plastic headlight ***'y has a thin black, foam-like seal around its exterior circumference. When the headlight ***'y is installed, the seal is visible, lying between the ***'y and the fender opening.

I am not sure what its purpose is except perhaps as a seal or rubbing protection for the fender. Mine appears defective from the factory and needs to be replaced IF it serves any useful purpose.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

About $1000 from the dealer. You can buy one from a member for a few $100 bills and R and I it yourself (Front bumper needs to come off).

The headlight ***'y is fine. I need only the thin black gasket that wraps the outside of the ***'y.

What purpose does the gasket serve?

I'm not sure but I think it seals the lens assembly. Regardless you have to take it out to replace it. Does your light assembly fog up or anything?
