I finally went off the deep end and added a procharger supercharger to my 05 coupe. It is unreal what a difference it makes, when you want it to, but not under normal driving. Only the third day with it, i will get more driving time in this weekend, but so far I love it
Congrats, I S/C'd (Vortech) my Z06 and it made it a new car.
The only thing I didn't like was the power never came on until well into the 3000+ rpm range. My new factory S/C'd cars power comes on RIGHT NOW!!!!
I have been 'toying' with the idea of having Callaway install the super charger when I buy the 'vette. I have been hesitant in doing so, because (1) it is a big chunk of money, and (2) I don't know if I would benefit by it. The car will be a daily driver (100 miles/day) and I won't be racing it. Not being knowledgeable concerning superchargers and not having driven a vehicle that had one on it, from the comments, am I correct to say that I would not benefit from this mod since the supercharger doesn't kick-in under normal driving, or unless I hit the 3000+ rpm range?
Congratulations. Friends of mine here have done it with various kits as well. One day hopefully I'll do the same. I just want it there when I need it and blow just about anything else away. Afterall . . . it's a Vette.

It it like this with all aftermarket superchargers? Can it they be set to kick in at lower rpm? I am contemplating getting an A&A supercharger but I know little about them and I don't race. I rarely every get my car above 2500 rpm. Sounding like it would be a waste of money for me....

Maggie type ( screw ) will develop power lower in the rpm range, it is the centrifugal blowers that come on later.
Most screw types need a hood change, E-Force being the exception. Hence the Maggie is most expensive to install.
OEM blowers are usually screw type.
I agree with your thinking though I usually do not exceed 2500-3000 rpm myself.
Congrats! I'm sure you will be hearing supercharger whine in your sleep now haha. Hopin to do the same to my 05, have you upgraded your rear end diff??
I have an 05 as well , I have only owned it for 6 months and at first I didnt think I would need anything faster but now I am used to the speed and may want some more . The only mods I have now are Z06 wheels, BB Fusion exhaust, Nav. I have not done any engine mods because I said if I really need a faster Vette I would get a Z06 BUT my car is mint only 13k miles and I love it.
Question is what would a full Supercharger setup and install cost? I have not researched this but if its around 5k or less its probably well worth it, also can you keep the factory hood?

Unless you can find a shop that is running a sale/special.. the supercharger alone is going to cost about 5-6k depending on what kit you go with...then there is labor on top. I would also set aside money for the future in case you need it for tranny or driveline parts that might break.
It aint cheap and always ends up costing more than you originally estimate... that's just how modding is, especially with big power.
To the OP, glad you are happy with your mods!
