When I run her hard, the computer shuts down the power to the doors, windows, locks, ect ... I have to disconnect the battery for about 5 mins. to reset..WTF??
You really are making this harder than it needs to be. Could you please offer some specifics on what you are doing when it happens? What indications do you get when it happens? Do you hear anything? Do any instrument panel lights come on? Have you checked the codes? If yes, what are they? Everything these cars do is monitored, if something is failing there is a code. Get the codes read with an OBDII scanner and post back what they are. What you are giving us is very little to go on.
No noise, no warning of any kind. Just randomly shuts down while driving on the freeway. All of the instruments shut down. Everything shuts down but the car keeps running. When I pull over and turn the car off, it will not start again until I disconnect the battery for about 5 mins. then everything works fine. I live in So. Cal. and its been hot here recently. Perhaps it's heat related??
I had a somewhat similiar problem, little different than yours. Engine died, running on about six cylinders when restarted, tack not working, don't remember about the other guages. Rolled off freeway and restarted, stopped at grocery store to pick groceries since returning from vacation. Restarted in grocery lot and everything ran normal. Took to dealer and codes showed that crank sensor was bad and dealer replaced, everything all right since then. This was in 2006. You need to get the codes read, first step in solving the problem.
georgewmorgan – it’s been a couple of days since you posted about what you’re experiencing in your Corvette. I was just curious if you’ve made any progress with that… are you thinking about taking your vehicle in?
