Grand sport Tire wear
#181
Fwiw, see my earlier post, I have 8600 miles and still some room before any tire gets to the treadbar (no idea what the measurment is in 32s). Anyway, GM agreed to pay half for whatever set of tires I want to put on and adjust the alignment to street setting.
I started with an email to customer service from the Chevy website. They started a ticket, set up the appt at the dealer. Ultimately met with service director. He agreed the tire quality is not commensurate with the car. It was easier than I ever imagined.
Seems to me that Chevrolet knows they have a problem with the original GY runflats so they are willing to prorate based on a normal tread life of around 15k miles.
Just my experience...

It's been awhile since you originally posted this but am just now seeing it. We are getting ready to put new tires on our GS (Bridgestone Potenza RE050A). Would this alignment guide be good for Grand Sports as well? Thank you for posting.

Made 15K on my first set of tires (Goodyear).
Anticipating 15K on the current set of tires (Goodyear).
Looking at considering Michelin for the next set (hopefully have 8-9K left on current set).

I have a 2012 GS and am at 17,500. My fronts are showing some wear but the backs look pretty good. I plan on getting at least another 2,000 to 3,000 out of them.

As others have said: the GY'S were junk on this car. Spirited driving, but no tracking, and they were smoked at 8200 miles. The Michigan Super Sports were on national back order so I ended up going with the PS2 ZP'S as well. Not cheap - but worth every penny! Stick like glue and plenty of tread left at 9500 miles

I got 17K out of my OEM Goodyears and replaced them with Bridgestone RE50s. Great tire for daily driving and a good value from Costco. Got a nail in the sidewall in my right rear just after putting on the Bridgestones and Costco replaced the tire ($415) at no cost thanks to their road hazard warranty which is included in their $15 fee per wheel for installation, balancing, and road hazard warranty. The RE50s are very quiet by comparison to the GYs and several hundred dollars less than anything else I considered.
