Default Help...removing sway bars.

Ok, not real mechanically inclined but thought i could handle this. Removing sway bars (T1's) to reinstall stock Z51 bars. As best as I can tell has stock end links. Have front end on jacks and nut/bolt attaching the sway bar (lower bolt) turns but does not loosen. How do I anchor the bolt so the nut will loosen?

I'm under there looking and feeling but not figuring it out. I'm having a hard time seeing back of bolt but not feeling a hole for allen wrench or other means to anchor.

Hello there,

Assuming the base C6 sway bar setup is the same as the Z06's, you need to use a socket to hold the tip of the bolt, which is on the same side as the nut. There is nothing on the other side to latch onto. I forgot the socket size for the bolt, but it's fairly small, and it's within range of pretty much any socket sets.

Because of this, you can't use a socket on the bigger nut. You'll need to use a wrench, which I believe is 18mm.

Hope my explanation makes sense... Hope this helps!

I think it is a Torx socket needed. It will plug into the end of the torsion bar and then you use a box wrench to turn the nut.
