I will give you a link to my FB check out the artwork he did for my business for banners, shirts, and cards.. The guy is spot on when you tell him what you want. and remember... Marketing has to push limits to get noticed, so dont be afraid to push the limits a lil.. I get requests just for shirts like crazy all the time..

ok, any thoughts on how to upgrade it? Thinking of making it a business card. Its going to be for installations of Heads Up Displays.

I get what you're doing....and hoping not to hurt your feelings, I'll be an honest critic for ya:

Too cartoon-ish! An actual HUD is a very cool feature, and that makes it look more like a video game type of idea. Have you tried using an actual photo of a HUD display from the driver's seat? Also, whatever route you go, use realistic numbers for the type of cars your customer's have....220 is nice, but as other's have said...getting too outrageous with the numbers will make it also seem like a gimmick.

Heck, just look at all the logos down the side of this page for inspiration...most are just nice fonts with some little accents....maybe come up with some nice font and frame it in something that looks like those squared corners of a HUD.

Either way, good luck...I know finding a logo/theme to run with is a tough challenge.

Here's my favorite resource if you're looking for inspiration:

http://new.myfonts.com/search/tag%3Aheadline/fonts/

Go to that page, type in your business name in the little box that says "Choose your own sample text", click the fit to width box if necessary....and scroll down for days....you'll see your text in hundreds of different type styles....makes it easy to find one that works for your idea of what the business is.

Don't mean to be harsh...but if you're seriously looking for opinions, that's mine to share!

Andy - Personal experience - leave family out of your business, they mean well but usually don't consider you a "real" customer and sometimes because you are family your project gets put on the back burner. Using family creates issues within the family that don't need to be there. Just saying. Please don't shoot the messenger!

AGREE 100%
My first round was family, it was a mess. The guy I got is wicked good, and I dont owe him any favors, or have to hear stories. Just cut to the chase and get my stuff. Thats it. In and out.
