Default Burning out

First all I would like to say that from a previous thread concerning the ride of my GS ...As I put on some more miles, the ride has smoothed out and I love it.
Now I have a question for other GS owners. I would think with 436 HP I should be able to break loose the tires and burn out...but I can't. Could it be that the tires are so big that it's impossible to burn out even when I turn off the traction control????

Boy, you must have some sticky pavement!
So your TRYING to spend thousands of $ for new tires already?!?!
I have no trouble breaking loose with my 6 sp manual GS Coupe. Try stomping harder, I guess?

Gee, I don't know. After over a year, I haven't felt the need to do a burn out.
Power + Traction =Low E. T.
Maybe that's why guys get less then 10,000 miles on tires

just follow these simple instructions.

1 start car
2 put car in gear
3 push traction control button (turn off)
4 stomp on gas (dump clutch if manual)
5 hang on and smile.

hope this helps.

If the OP can't break traction with a base C6, I'm not sure he could with a Z either. I guess he might be able to though.

The A6 is not an impediment to burning off a new set of tires.

My previous car was a Solstice xp auto......and it would burn until I let off on the throttle. I know it also had big tires but don't think they were close to the Vette..

Try the following......EXACTLY!!

1. Put the car in neutral
2. Bring the RPM up to 5000 - 5500
3. pull the shifter into gear...
4.Don't call me if Anything Bad Happens..

Bondo writes as if he is new to the Corvette. Maybe the smart-alec replies are not the best way to keep a Junior member on the board until he becomes acclimated to his Vett???

All I can think of right now is that you may be a little gun-shy with a bigger car than your Solstice. If you want to spin the tires, don't ease into the throttle. A engine hooked to an auto transmission in today's engine managment system won't hurt get hurt if you stomp on it.
So, pick the right safe area, and . . . stomp on it!

I think most of the guys said it best already.

If Automatic

1. Turn car on, shift to Drive or 1st (watch your RPMs if in first).
2. Floor it.

If stick

1. Turn car on, place shifter into 1st
2. While hold in the clutch, feather throttle to 4,500 RPMs.
3. As fast as you can take you foot off the clutch.

Burn out only in a safe area away from people and property.

Doesn't Chevy torque limit automatics until so many miles are on it? Or is that only pickups.

Okie dokie.

The 260 HP, 2,980 pound manual GXP ran to 60 mph in 5.8 or so, and the quarter could be done in 14.2 seconds at 99 mph, give or take a tad. The automatic would have been a bit slower.

The 436 HP, 3,380 pound manual GS can ran to 60 mph in 4.2, and the quarter could be done in 12.6 seconds at 115 mph, give or take a tad. The automatic probably is no slower, and may be a bit faster.

Turn off the TC and stomp that thing. You WILL melt your brand new GYs off in a few seconds.
