AustinC6 – like speedlink said, sometimes a cell phone near the FOB will cause it to not work properly. Where are you keeping your cell phone as you’re entering and exiting your car?
From: Currently somewhere in IL,IN,KY,TN,MO,AR,MS,AL, or FL
Since everything works fine with one FOB and doesn't work with the other FOB, I'd say that the FOB that doesn't work is a non-working FOB. Replace the $3 battery.
I wonder if your FOB battery fixed your problem??? If not, I just got back from having mine repaired. Installed new window regulator and door module (they are connected together) and my problem seems to have gone. The tech said the computer in the module was locking up and needed replacing. The best part of it was they did not charge me for the part.
Hello all,
My apologies for taking so long to get back to each of your thoughtful approaches to get me back on track with my door. Let me start by saying that I pretty much ALWAYS have my phone in the same pocket and have for years so that shouldn't have been the problem. Also, the suggestion of approaching the car 'with a purpose' instead of 'tentatively' really took me for a loop. My car is in the garage where it's always been and there's about 24 inches between my driver door and the garage wall. I always approach the car the same way and really wasn't sure how to do this less 'tentatively' .
As it turns out, I went to another dealer that I know and trust with both fobs (1 and 2) and they checked my primary which was giving me the trouble and said the battery was low but not so low that it would just fail to work. Since my secondary fob worked just fine, they decided to replace my primary fob and did so under my GMPP so there was no out of pocket expense on my part. Car works just fine and I have absolutely no problems. I also like the feel of the NEW fob in my hands as I leave the house. almost like having a new car....
I believe I'll look into the valet gizmo that can roll down the windows remotely though. That's a feature that I wasn't aware was available for our Vettes.
Again, my thanks to all of you that rose to the task of helping out a brother Vette owner. It means a lot to know we can be this awesome resource for each other.
I wish it was just a normal key. The FOB is just not impressing me, but likely impresses you ... whatever
Yes, I admit it does impress me. But I am a simple man with a simple mind and am very easily impressed by many things. Plus, it makes my wife happy and just about ANYTHING that makes momma happy, makes me happy. 30 years and counting... Trust me, if momma didn't like the FOB OR the Vette, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.
Have you changed the pocket where you keep the key fob? Hold the key fob in your left hand away from the car and see if it works. For some reason, my '05 C6 does this occasionally, usually with more use it opens up just like it should. I did buy the window valet to "fix" the problem. If the door doesn't open, I just roll the windows down and use the inside button.
The Window Valet uses 3 "unlock" button presses from the remote fob to lower the windows, correct? So if the RCDLR can receive all 3 unlock commands, then your door was already unlocked after the first one, and you can just reach over and open the door. Thus, having a Window Valet would do nothing to "solve" this problem.

Ah grasshopper,
The door unlocking is not the issue, the issue is the door opening from the outside when the outside release is activated and when the windows go down, you just press the inside door release.
For some reason, your choice of reasons, the outside door switch will not work, no matter how many times you press the unlock button on the fob, however, the inside button will work, hence windows go down, and inside release pressed and door opens.
