Default Paddle Shift Question

Question: When I'm driving in auto shift mode I notice on occasions when I start to accelerate from a complete stop and only in 2nd gear I have a moment of nothing and then a bit of a kick before it starts moving. Can anyone explain ??

There has been a lot of discussion about this and other quirks. One thing is that if you come to a quick stop and then start out immediately, the auto system may not have finished downshifting; it either bangs into gear or just hesitates. There is a bulletin that explains some of this but i don't have a copy.

BTW, if you are really in auto, regardless of the selector being in D or S; the car always starts in 1st. But the 1 to 2 shift under light throttle is so soon and so soft, it's hard to notice. The only time it starts in 2 is if you are using the paddles and don't do anything as you stop. In that case, it starts in 2 and stays in 2 until you shift it.

You are lugging your auto, thats whats happening. You then take up the slack from lugging and you get a drive train slap.

Keep the revs up a little higher and Bingo!

When I did my headers/hi-flo cats & had a tune the tech did a tweak on the trans........no lag, shifts up & down quite well. I drive 95% in sport mode, when raining go to touring mode ( YES, I do drive in the rain !! )
