Default Auction prices?

Sadly I'm looking to trade the Vette in and I was wondering if anyone could give me auction prices for what 2005 Vettes are going for right now? I'm not sure what Manheim or any of those guys are getting right now and I want to be as informed as I can be. I have a silver one with Nav and Mag Ride. 72,xxxx on the dial.

Thanks,
Erik

With the miles you'll get low 20's figure 20-22 at manhiem. Better do it quick though before mid fall because then you will be looking at 18-20

I was hoping to get 22,500, do you think that is unreasonable?

I have some extras on there, corsa exhaust, Lingenfelter CAI, ZR1 rims

Trading it in the extras could actually hurt the trade in amount. Dealers do not like modded cars and normally deduct for them.

If you have the items to put it back to stock it will most likely get you more for the car and then you can sell the mod items for some additional bucks.

You can probably get that selling it privately or maybe at the auction on a good day. Run it with a reserve and see what happens

22,500 should be easy to get as a private party sell.

Your dealer can pull up the auction figures for you. When I traded my C5 for my C6 that is what they did and that is what I got.

Just sold my '05, (3LT) M6, coupe in VG to excellent shape with 79K on the dial for 23K. I thought it was a fair sell and buy. Looking to buy a '08 A6 coupe.

With the auction or below dealer trade-in price I wouldn't be surprised if they offer you high teens. Do you have the OEM parts? If so and if you are real serious about selling, you should take the aftermarket parts off and sell them yourself. At least you'll make some money that way. When I traded in my 08 I took everything off it (M2W, partition, roof headliner, front plate mount, color license plate frames). They wanted me to have the windshield replaced (that just received two chips on the way to the dealer) and I said their price is "as is" or jack it up another $1k for my time.

How much would you pay retail for this car with those miles??
I say you're looking at 18 grand or so thru the auction because whoever buys it will be wanting to resell it at retail.A 72000 mile 05 Vette won't bring much more then 22 grand at the retail level, imho.

Thanks so much for all the replies. I really wish I had kept the OEM parts because you are right, I didn't get any extra for them. That being said I got $21,500 for my trade. I felt that was the best deal I was going to get and ultimately the vehicles are only worth what someone will pay. I used a website called TrueCar.com that I can't recommend enough. You don't have to haggle over price, just for your trade if you have one. I really recommend it. Thanks again guys and I look forward to becoming a Corvette owner again sometime in the future.

I just traded in my silver '05 coupe 2 months ago on a new one. Car had automatic, 2 tone interior & CD Changer (no nav, no mag. suspension) and 13,200 miles and I got $28.5k for it, so I must have done well! It did have an aftermarket exhaust (GHL) and I tossed in the stock one also for the dealer as they were great people to work with and figured it would be easier for them to sell if they could give the new owner the option of what exhaust he would like. Car was spotless and in new condition (always garaged, never driven in rain, interior perfect etc.). Spoke to the dealership later and they sold it within 2 weeks, a week afterwards the guy came back in and asked them to put the stock exhaust back on lol!

Werks-was the $28,500 trade amount in addition to discounts from sticker price on the new one? If so, you did do well. I always find out the cash selling price of the new car then later on mention I "may" have a trade to get the real number they are allowing. I don't even drive my potential trade car to the dealership-just inquire buying the new one as a stand alone purchase then come back later with the trade vehicle.

Yes I got the dealer down $11k under MSRP on the new car. This was June so the cars were not being discounted as much as they are now at the end of summer and with 2012's shipping. Unfortunately there was no extra cash back in the form of GM rebates/discounts/incentives being offered on the model that I was buying (other than the $1k GM Card money which brought the total to $12k under MSRP). All things being said I think that I got a really good deal on the trade in and also a fair price on the new car purchase based on what dealers were selling comparable car's for at the time and it ultimately was a fair deal for all. The dealer solved a problem for me by taking in a used car and giving me a realistic price for it and basically turned the car in a week or two with little mark up but did not lose on it. In return he moved a new car to me at a reasonable price and made a reasonable profit off of it. To me that's business at it's finest

It seems that at $21,500 a lot of people should have lined up to buy it from you. I thought the same thing when I sold my C5 two years ago. It took a month, but I also sold it for a couple of thousand less than I thought it was worth.
I try to never trade. I just can't seem to get a fair deal that way. Could be my negotiating skills aren't that good.
