Default Oil level

I have been a member for a while, but have been off line for a while due to heart attack and all that goes with it. I'm in a tight spot and need your advise.
I have a 2008 base coupe (my dream finally came true) with 9,300 miles on it. I purchased it as new in Feb-09 when the prices were down and wife and I really enjoy it when we have opportunity.
I was a truck/equipment mechanic for 35 yrs and I'm a little tired and beat down and still working another 7 yrs in managment. I have always done my own maintenance on family cars, and when they offered to do the 1st oil change free I let my guard down and let the dealer do it a year ago. No probs. Then, earlier this year the vette developed the rear end noise prob that you guys had told me about and I let the dealer do the diff lube mod/recall thing and I had them to do the motor oil change while they had it. This was April.
2 weeks ago the wife told me about the vette running real bad. I got in it and it started up, but it didn't want to take take gas. I checked under the hood, all ok, and discovered the oil level was several inches above full. (Looked like they failed to drain before adding new oil). Idled smooth, but died when I tried to accelerate. Called dealer for warranty assist and the writer said after a few days that the problem was intermittent and couldn't find the prob. He mentioned a few things like fuel injectors and such and I guided him through that and made sure that they were in contact with the factory engineers. I then asked him about the oil level issue I reported and he said he would look into it.
Wife received call today (they didn't call me), and they told her that indeed the high oil level was the problem and they would have it fixed and ready to go by this weekend.
Well now, I have a problem with that. Before I go ballistic on them, I want to do the smart thing and this is where I need your input. I have lost all faith in this vette due to the oil error and will never fully trust it again. I'm real worried about engine damage even though I have the ext warranty.
I ask you gentlemen, what options do I have? I know now that I have to DIY till I die, but I didn't know it then. D___ it's hot here in TX.
I owe 18k on it.

Sorry for the regurgitation of this topic, but what approach would you take with a GM dealership that overfilled your 08 vette, w/9300 miles, during a motor oil during change? Overfilled about 5 1/2 qts. Engine later would hardly run and dealer admitted to overfilling.

I would have them document it and watch things. I would also contact Chevy Customer Service on this forum and see if they can give you any ideas.

And I sure as hell wouldn't use that dealer again. How can you forget to drain oil when doing a oil change and then refill it.

Being a mechanic you know that too much oil can cause foaming and can ruin an engine. I guess it depends on how much it's been driven. My guess is since you have the GMPP if the engine is ruined you will know shortly and one way or the other GM will cover it.
Keep us posted. Good luck.
