Default Need Help - quick question

Traveling up in Michigan and noticed when I park the car (C6), the map lights seem to stay on after I lock the car. I checked the owners manual and all it says is that you turn the map light by hitting the switch on and off - but it doesn't say which position is ON and which iss OFF.

Does any one know so that I can sleep well tonight knowing I'll have a battery in the morning?

You may have bumped the interior light switch on the lower dash to the left of the steering column.

As noted, likely because you have bumped or pressed the mirror light switch which is the "press in" part of the dash pad dimmer switch to the left of your steering wheel. Of course you could also have a door or hatch left ajar.

Check your passenger side door to make sure it is fully closed. Open the drivers side door and get in the car. Make sure the drivers door is closed completely once you are in the car. Wait at least 30 seconds and make sure that the lights have had time to go out. Make sure that the mirror switches are in the "in" (off) position and press the dimmer switch to the left of the steering wheel. This should turn your lights off.

You don't need to hold the switch to the left of your knee, it is a momentary press. Only try one switch at a time and wait at least 30 seconds between presses of each switch or other switches. In your quest to turn them off by the mirror lights you now have likely turned on the mirror lights and the dimmer switch won't turn them off initially.

This is the weird thing, the mirror switches are ***-backwards, the button pushed in is "off", and when the button is out the light is "on" (WTF!!!). I feel the same with the paddle-shifter, it is ***-backwards, when you pull on the paddle it should shift up, not down ...

I think you must have pushed in the dimmer switch (lower-left) to switch the lights on. I've done that myself and bet many here have also. With all the DBS fears, most of us probably go a little when we see unusual battery drain.

When I was a Vet noob I did the same thing and it cost me $90 at the dealership. Being stupid hurts... Then I found the Corvette Forum and did a lot of reading.
