Why would it be saying I am on the west coast if I am on the east coast. The right disc is in the unit. Anybody experience something like this before? The unit was bought from California. Everything else seems to be functioning perfectly. Left the GPS antenna on the dash and still no luck. Also tried recalibrating and all I get is the GPS symbol in RED. Any suggestions?

you have to go into the system and delete stored wayed points, basically delete everything, reset your home point (which I made my local police station) make sure your area is set correctly and you should be good to go as good as the OEM unit gets, (not really good IMHO, the update disc costs more than a good Garmin unit).

I hate to sound like a stick in the mud... But my $179 Magellan works all over the USA.. gives me traffic, will show me a detour if I'm going slower than 30 mph on an interstate highway...and I still have a 6 CD player, and can use the Magellan in my DD if I have to....
I think GM's Nav sucks....but that is only my opinion...
It remembers the last place where it acquired and locked on to a satellite fix and will not show the new location until it gets a fix in it's new location.
The GPS with a red line thru it means it has not locked on to the sats yet. Give it some time outside the garage with a clear view of the sky and see if it does. If it doesn't there could be something wrong with the antenna or it is not plugged in correctly.
I have been very happy with the nav unit in my 2007 and like it better than any of the Garmin's I have had including the Kenwood with Garmin nav I had in my last vette.

Same with my el cheapo Garmin. I don't have to re-invent the wheel everytime I get into the car with the Garmin. Maps get out of date.... give the old garmin away, and get a new one for less money then the GM Disc.
Edit: I see where I can get the extra wide 5" screen Garmin with lifetime map updates(4X yearly) for less money then the GM NAV disc. And I don't have to memorize some three dozen stupid symbols either.
Thanks for everyone's help. I agree that the nav is not the best. It's technology is about 7yrs old . Anyway I just needed some suggestions as to what it could be. Thanks for all the suggetions and hopefully the c7 will have a much better system.
Rjrsw I think you nailed it. I'll let you know if this helps.

I agree that my Magellan (on sale for $99), with life time free updates is waaay better than the Nav in our Vettes........having said that, I will always buy/order our Vettes etc WITH Nav for 2 reasons.
1. The dash looks better.
2. A better optioned car always sells better to Joe public.
I know, I have bought and sold a lot of C5's and C6's.
Does it need to be "unlocked" with some kind of programer, because of anti-theft software?
We have two garmins, 2 other-car-company factory navs, a cellphone nav, and the C6 factory nav. None of them are perfect, I happen to prefer the C6 factory nav over the otheres. It gets much better after you read talon90's online tutorial.
I've said it before I really have no problem with the Corvettes Nav unit. Once I got use to it it has done everything I've wanted it to do without any problem.
I was an OEM Nav hater. My 11 GS Vert came with it though. While the Garmin is better in some ways, I cannot really complain about the OEM NAV too much. My Garmin is currently a brick right now as it is not working (does not show any streets).
Upgrades are cheaper with Garmin but how often do roads around you change, especially in today's economy. OEM doesn't have a traffic feature but I found out most of those (XM, NAVTEC, MSN) are junk anyway. They were all guaranteed to tell me about an accident as I was passing it after being stuck in traffic. I found the most reliable to be google maps.
HUD feature is a real big plus also. I put all of my CDs on an IPOD that works great with my 11 GS. Don't need a 6 CD changer when I don't even carry one in the car.
