Anyone attend the Corvette Museum Anniversary celebration yesterday? I noticed the attendance was down quite a bit. Something needs to be done to attract more visitors.
In addition to the reasons already posted there are multiple events held each year and geographically the NCM is not exactly close for everyone, so making the trip is for many owners a once or twice a year destination, based on their particular interest. Some events will ultimately prove to be more popular than others and their event calendar will likely be adjusted accordingly. I would hope the C7 will inject some additional interest in the assembly plant tours and NCM as well. I was at the NCM two weeks ago on the way to returning my son to Vanderbilt and there was 'steady' attendance traffic on the Tuesday we were there. Not a lot of people, but always someone coming and going. I really don't think you can expect much more at a specialty museum-not everyone is as passionate about the car as some of us are, and even those with some interest may not be willing to spend the time and $ to actually visit.
There is also the "Been There Done That".... Ok, I live 8 miles away from Disneyland... No... I don't go all the time... every 5 or 10 years...on average

I know someone who lives in Phoneix and they only been to the Grand Canyon once. So your right. I live just a few miles from NYC and I never been to the Statue of Liberty. Go figure
Yes, the "been there, done that" would certainly apply. There are only so many variations on the C6 that can be introduced and only so many special events that are significant. Don't get me wrong, I'm a founder and lifetime member of the NCM but going there once, maybe twice a year is enough, and that second one usually coincides with my son's Vanderbilt move-in as it's only 60 miles away.
Actually, the pre-registered guest count was up over 10% from last year. This event had almost double the road tour events from prior years so while there were more people here, many of them were off on trips and tours and any one time over any other year.
I was there on Monday of last week. Frankly, I didnt enjoy the museum nearly as much as the plant tour. There are a lot of C4s in the museum and I'm not a fan of those years.
