Default Black Front grill question?

My 07 front grill has a small section on the passenge side that will snap off and has a plastic "string" attached to it so it want fall off the car. Like a place you can access a hand through. Does anyone know why this is so? I have Billet Grille to cover this area and found this by accident.

Can you post a photo?

It sounds like what you are describing is the outside air temperature sensor which is just behind the grill. It is a small black plastic sensor with a wire attached to it.

If that isn't it, I really have no idea what you are describing.

RockIT9 has a perfect picture. That part of the plastic grill will snap off and has a teather attached to the grill so the part want get lost. Not for towing, nothing to hook too. Cleaning leaves?
You have to have the car on a lift to see it. I was curious. I installed a Bullit Aluminum Grille cover and just happened to see it.

Could it be that you by accident have a European version front grill? I believe they have that provision to screw in a towhook, that is mandatory in Europe?
You may not have the rest of the brackets etc for the hook, maybe just the grill?

that part of the grill is strange. Sorry, I don't know how to post a picture. All I can tell you is that part of the grill the RockIT9 shows will pull off and just hang there. If you can help me post a photo that would be great.

that part of the grill that can be pulled off you can see a hole inside, this hole is to screw the tow hook that you have in the trunk along with road assistance accessories

Cool. Thank you. I tried to attach the new grill onto the black grill and that removable piece was giving me problems. I zip tied the 2 ends so this removable grill piece would not come off and attached my new grill to that piece using the hardware supplied for the billit aluminum grill. I wish I could post a picture.

I just made a new avatar showing my new grill. E-bay, $50. Couldn't resist. Only way I can photo without buying an upgrated membership i guess.

If I understand your question correctly we would need to see behind the billet grill to answer your question.

thanks

Robert,

Your correct. The new grill covers the entire OEM plactic grill. Must have been a "port" for towing the car from the front. How did you post the pic. I had to change my avatar to show the same picture.

That's the front bumper piece I saw. I had problems attaching the new grill because of this removable piece but I found away around it. Thanks for all the posts. Funny things one discovers when doing mods.
