Default Carlisle blue paint problems?

We looked at a carlisle blue coupe at a local dealer yesterday. The paint on the bumper covers was a different shade of blue than the rest of the car. The bumpers appeared to have more of a gray tint than the body. Is this a problem with the carlisle blue paint jobs?

Big problems with that color predict it will last only one year.

Not a tough prediction. That color is only planned for one year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Corvettes at Carlisle.

Why not bring back Lemans blue for one year to celebrate the 30th anniversary...

I have noticed this on my car(magnetic red) and lots of other cars. I don't think its exclusive to that color.

I don't think so....I think its an illusion of sorts because I see what I think is a mismatch like that on a good many pictures that are posted in here....I also see it on some front bumper covers....I think its is becase the rear cover is a different material as much as anything..and the light reflects differently...

I love the new blue...Its nice tribute color..

Probably due to all panels being painted separately then being assembled.

It is not uncommon for the front fascia (bumper) and rear fascia to exhibit color differences to the adjacent panels. They are painted separately and are different material than the adjoining fenders and quarter panels. Despite the fact that they use the same paint process, metallics are more prone to color variation (color flop) when viewed from different angles.

Good answer.

I've noticed that with my Cyber gray, I have excellent color match on all the panels. I have noticed that, while I have very little orange peel, it is on the main body panels. The front and rear fascia, the mirrors and the roof are virtually free of orange peel.

I thought my 98 Lt Metallic Red was pretty good, with a little orange peel and good color match, but my 09 Z06 blows the C5 away.

I'm talking about Carlisle blue specifically. Has anybody here even seen a Carlisle blue vette to see if there is a big difference? I looked at a silver coupe sitting right next to the carlisle blue and the silver matched perfectly.

Look at a new Camaro and you will think the back half of the car is three shades darker but it isn't. It is just the way the light reflects off of it.

Yes. Ive seen Carlisle Blue. I've photographed Carlisle blue in outdoor lighting and indoor lighting. I've sat in, driven and ridden in Carlisle Blue. Here is a car that I photographed this past weekend at the Corvette Museum. There isn't a problem that I've seen or am aware of.

Thats very true. Different light situations will bring out the color differences.
