I'm sure this has been addressed, but I'm still confused. I have an 05 coupe. Had to replace right rear wheel, tire and tpms valve. The other 3 valves are original 05. The replacement is from an 06. No matter what I do with the air pressure in the right rear, it just reads 30. Do I have to buy a scan tool or whatever it's called? I was under the impression that 05-09 valves would work; and that the car would read them after a while. I've searched, but still don't know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The sensor in each wheel has a unique ID number and each of the 4 ID numbers is "registered" in the car's computer. When you install a new sensor it (and it's ID) has to be registered in the car's computer......but you can't register just the one new one. You have to reprogram all 4 again AND in the correct order. So yes you either have to get your own reset tool or take the car to a tire shop, like Discount Tire/America's Tire, most of whom will do the reset for free or take it to a dealer who will likely charge you to do the reset.
