JSB color match
My problem that I find no answer to in the search function is the color match for my JSB wide booty conversion. First off, that's not entirely true. In natural light the match is dead on. I'm 100 percent pleased with the color and the orange peel match. The problem is under artificial light, specifically fluorescent and high pressure sodium lights.
Under the fluorescent at a 90 degree viewing angle the color is fine. When viewed at about 75 degrees or less the color takes on an increasingly purplish hue. The shop is being extremely helpful in addressing this problem and has had the regional Sikkens rep in twice already to do custom blends. He's scheduled back next week as well.
The process so far has been to spray test sheets, base coat only, and compare them to the original. The product on the new panels is base/clear. I know from the knowledge of the forum that the factory applied a base/tintcoat for JSB.
My question would be: If I can convince the rep that the process should be base/tintcoat will that take out the purplish hue?
I'm loving the wide booty conversion in the daylight but not so much sitting in the garage.
I'll also post this in the paint section.
All responses are appreciated.
