DIY .. car cover C6 logo iron-on patch (pics)
I reciently bought a $199 car cover from our good friends at Southern Car Parts.
Great indoor cover, but I thought it needed a Corvette logo of some kind ... So, I found a large 15" long iron-on embroidered patch on Ebay. In fact, it also came with a small 4" patch too.
The car cover I bought came with a matching bag made out of the same material as the car cover, so I practiced on the bag first with the hot iron. It came out perfectly without melting the material that the bag was made out of ... So, next to the car cover.
I first put the cover on the car and figured out where I wanted the patch. Put a couple of small marks where the outer edges of the patch should be so it would not be crooked when finish.
Took the car cover off and ironed the patch on (took awhile to get the patch hot enough to glue itself on the car cover) and the patch is now really permanent!
Anyway, here are the before and after photos (I'm happy)
BTW ... I wanted to put the patch just a little lower, but the car cover sets just a little looser in the area of the hood scoop ... so I just opted to put it on just above where the hood scoop is.

I have heard that it's a violation for some reason to post a link to Ebay. That's why I didn't post it before.
If you go to the main Ebay site and search for Corvette Iron-On Patch, it will be the 1st item for sale that comes up.
The price is $34.99 with free shipping.
You get both a 15" and a 6" wide patch.
Someone asked how hot the iron needs to be ... I needed to set it on full hot. The patch is thick enough that the iron will only touch the patch and not come in direct contact with the car cover when ironing. As with any iron-on patch, the patch needs to get hot enough to melt the glue on the back of it.
The quaity of these patches is excellent !
BTW ... That white outline on the outer edge of this embroidered patch is actually a silver thread .. nice
Disclaimer: Again .. I am in no way associated with the seller. Don't know him. Never met him. Never talked to him.

I am real happy with this $199 car cover from Southern Car Parts (a forum sponsor).
Here is a rear view of the car cover ... fits pretty tight, and does stretch just a little. Good indoor cover!

There is a thread here somewhere where I believe Southern Car Parts is offering fee shipping on the $199 car cover too.
