Default Climate Control System Question

The climate control display on my 2008 C6 Z51 is acting up. The display blinks rapidly. The system seems to work just fine and it will reset when the engine is restarted. The display will be fine for a time and then will do the blinking again. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Try resetting the HVAC controller:

Press and hold these 3 buttons for 5 seconds with the ignition on:

Front Defrost
Rear Defog
Fan Up

Others on here have reported that the blinking is a sign of impending failure, so if resetting doesn't stop it, it may be on the way out.

If you can find somebody with a scanner that can read the HVAC codes you might find there is an issue with the system. I know the chain auto parts stores don't have any capable of reading those codes so don't bother with them.

Had the same problem on my 07, the fix was replacing the AC Control Head (display unit). It was covered by my warranty.

The 5Yr/100K warranty is power-train only. It will not cover the hvac

The 5/100 is a Powertrain Warranty, I can't see how the climate control system could be considered part of the powertrain.

It was near the end of my 3yr/36 month warranty.

Now the 3yr/36k mile warranty would indeed cover it easily.

stoessjc – it’s been a few days since you posted so I was curious if you made any progress with your climate control system. If you’re still having issues with it, be sure to send me a PM.

Thanks,
Laura
